Congratulations on your new phone! If you have a Simcardo eSIM installed on your old device, you may be able to transfer it in some cases. Let's go through your options.
Important Note
eSIM transfer isn't always possible and depends on several factors:
- eSIM type – Some eSIM profiles can be transferred, others cannot
- Platform – Transfer between iPhones works better than between different platforms
- Remaining data – Transfer makes sense if you have unused data
Transferring eSIM Between iPhones (iOS 16+)
Apple introduced direct eSIM transfer between iPhones:
- Make sure both iPhones have iOS 16 or later
- On the new iPhone, go to Settings → Cellular → Add eSIM
- Select Transfer from Nearby iPhone
- On the old iPhone, confirm the transfer
- Wait for completion (may take several minutes)
Note: This feature may not work with all eSIMs. If you don't see the option, proceed to the alternative solution below.
Transferring to Android
Android doesn't yet have a universal eSIM transfer feature between devices. Options:
Samsung Quick Switch
Some newer Samsung phones support eSIM transfer via Smart Switch, but it's not guaranteed for all eSIM types.
Google Pixel
Pixel phones currently don't support direct eSIM transfer. You'll need a fresh installation.
Alternative Solution: Fresh Installation
If direct transfer doesn't work, you have two options:
Option 1: Contact Our Support
Write to our support with the following information:
- Order number or email used for purchase
- Old and new phone models
- Remaining data/validity on the eSIM
Depending on your eSIM status, we can:
- Issue a new QR code for the same plan
- Transfer remaining credit to a new eSIM
Option 2: Use Remaining Data and Buy New
If you have little data left or validity is ending soon:
- Use up remaining data on the old phone
- Purchase a new eSIM for your new phone at simcardo.com
Before Transfer or Deletion
Before deleting the eSIM from your old phone:
- Note your remaining data – Find it in your Simcardo account
- Save your order number – For support communication
- Check validity – No point transferring an almost-expired eSIM
FAQ
Can I use the same QR code on the new phone?
No. Each QR code can only be used once. Once the eSIM is installed, the QR code is no longer valid.
What happens if I delete the eSIM from my old phone?
The eSIM profile is removed from the phone. If you haven't transferred the eSIM to a new device, you'll need support help to recover it.
Can I have the same eSIM on two phones simultaneously?
No. An eSIM can only be active on one device at a time.
How long does transfer via support take?
We typically respond within hours during business hours. You can receive a new QR code the same day.
Tips for the Future
- Before switching phones – Check if you have unused data and valid eSIM
- Plan ahead – If you know you'll be changing phones, use remaining data beforehand
- Backup details – Keep your order number and account credentials saved
